Manchester United's season has been marred by contentious officiating, leaving manager Michael Carrick frustrated. Can they overcome these challenges against Chelsea?

Manchester United has faced a string of frustrating decisions this season, particularly in recent weeks. In their match against Bournemouth, a clear penalty was denied when Amad Diallo was brought down in the box. Moments later, Bournemouth capitalized on the missed call, scoring at the other end.

The situation worsened for United when Harry Maguire received a red card for a foul, only to later learn he would face an additional ban for his reaction to the officiating. This leaves United without their captain for the crucial clash against Chelsea.

In the following match against Leeds United, the officiating came under fire again. Dominic Calvert-Lewin elbowed Leny Yoro in the head, yet the goal stood without a review. Lisandro Martinez was then sent off for pulling Calvert-Lewin's head, despite the striker's earlier foul. With both Maguire and Martinez unavailable, United's defense is looking thin, especially with Matthijs de Ligt already sidelined.

Adding to the woes, there are concerns that Leny Yoro may have picked up an injury, leaving United with only Ayden Heaven as the available center-back. Carrick expressed his disappointment in a recent press conference, stating, "There’s not much we can react to. Massively disappointed, of course. We’ve been hit with some decisions, and at the end of the day, now we’ve just got to accept it and move on."

Despite the setbacks, Carrick remains optimistic about Heaven's readiness. "He’s in a good place. He’s obviously still young and progressing through the early stage of his career really," he noted. As United prepares for their visit to Stamford Bridge, the pressure is on to navigate these challenges and find a way to secure a vital win.
