Alexander Isak found the net for Liverpool, easing his frustration after a tough recovery from injury. Can this goal help him regain his form?

Liverpool needed a spark against Crystal Palace, and Alexander Isak delivered. The Swedish striker opened the scoring at Anfield, marking his return to the scoresheet after a frustrating spell sidelined by injury.

Speaking after the 3-1 victory, Isak expressed just how significant this goal was for him. "I’ve been battling getting back to full fitness, and obviously scoring a goal is probably the best way to finding your form again. Obviously, I’m really happy," he said.

This was only Isak's fifth appearance since his move from Newcastle, making the moment even sweeter. He described the goal as instinctive: "I felt like that shot was not going in, so I kind of intercepted it and it became a good touch. Then I managed to put it into the back of the net."

Isak's return to form is crucial, especially after recent criticism from pundits who questioned his match fitness. John Aldridge and Chris Sutton had both suggested he looked off the pace, but this goal could be the turning point he needs.

The match itself wasn’t straightforward. Crystal Palace proved to be tough opponents, and Isak acknowledged the challenge they posed. "Crystal Palace are a good competitor and never an easy game. I think we played well in big parts of the game and maybe it shouldn’t have had to be that nervy at the end," he reflected.

He also praised Palace's defensive resilience, noting, "They are one of the most difficult teams to score against and create chances. I think we showed we’ve got the quality – we’ve just got to keep this form."

Isak didn’t forget to commend his teammate Freddie Woodman, whose performance was vital in securing the win. "I think he did absolutely brilliantly… it’s really big from him to be able to put on a show like that."

As Liverpool builds momentum, Isak's goal could be just what they need to push forward. The question now is whether he can maintain this form and silence the critics.
