After a disappointing defeat to Brighton, Cody Gakpo calls for Liverpool to fight for every remaining match this season.

Cody Gakpo didn’t hold back after Liverpool’s latest setback against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Dutch forward expressed his frustration over a season plagued by missed opportunities and recurring issues.

"Disappointed. Obviously we wanted to win, which is important in the situation we are in, but it didn’t go that way. So, it was a difficult afternoon," Gakpo said, reflecting on the loss. His words echoed the sentiments of many fans who have watched the team struggle to capitalize on positive results.

Gakpo pointed out a troubling pattern: Liverpool's inability to build momentum. "That’s frustrating. I think it’s happened a few times already this season, so that’s not good from our side. That’s frustrating," he added. When pressed for a reason behind the team's inconsistency, he admitted, "Not really. If we would know it then we would try to solve it, but it happened a few times already."

Injuries continue to plague Liverpool, and Gakpo noted how the early exit of Hugo Ekitike was a significant blow. "Obviously a big blow. I think everybody can see how well he’s doing, so that’s a big blow," he said. With key players missing, the team struggled to find its rhythm, leading to a reshuffled attack that lacked cohesion.

Critics have pointed to deeper issues within the squad. John Aldridge slammed the defensive performance, while Stephen Warnock described Liverpool as looking "soft" against Brighton's intensity. The lack of physicality and control raised alarms about the team’s fitness and readiness.

Despite the gloom, Gakpo remains resolute. "I think we just have to approach every game that we have to win it… we have to fight to win seven games," he declared. As the season winds down, the pressure mounts. Liverpool must dig deep to salvage what’s left of their campaign.
