Everton Should Center Their Attack Around Thierno Barry

Thierno Barry's recent brace against Manchester City, however, might just be the spark Everton needs. The young Frenchman, often criticized in recent weeks, stepped up when it mattered most. He scored twice, sandwiching his goals around Jake O’Brien’s strike, putting Everton ahead 3-1 before City mounted a late comeback.

Barry’s performance showcased his potential as a long-term solution for Everton's attacking issues. In contrast, Beto, who has had some decent outings lately, faltered against City. Moyes' decision to keep Beto on the pitch until after the hour mark raised eyebrows, especially given Beto’s lackluster record of 24 goals in 108 appearances. It’s clear that Everton needs more firepower.

Physicality sets Barry apart. He won a staggering 14 aerial duels against Manchester United earlier this season, proving he can hold his own against top-tier defenses. At just 23, he has the advantage of youth over Beto, who is expected to be in his prime but has failed to consistently deliver.

While Beto’s supporters might point to his recent goal tally against weaker teams, Barry’s ability to challenge the best in the league is undeniable. Everton needs to build their attack around him if they want to turn their fortunes around. The question now is whether Moyes will recognize this and make the necessary adjustments.
