Brentford FC has released the results of its BU 2026 survey, shedding light on the demographics of its dedicated fanbase. A total of 672 BU members participated, revealing an older demographic with nearly 39% aged between 45 and 64, and 56% over 65. This mirrors last year's figures, indicating a consistent trend.
Notably, 20% of respondents are over the age of 75, highlighting the club's appeal to its most senior supporters. The survey also showed that nearly 10% of BU members are international, with a significant portion hailing from the USA.
However, there’s a clear call to action regarding gender diversity. Currently, only 11% of the group is female, and there’s a strong desire to attract more women and younger fans into the fold. The club is now faced with the challenge of how to broaden its appeal.
Loyalty among BU members is impressive. Over 80% of Season Ticket Holders and Members have supported the Bees for more than six years, with more than 60% backing the club for over 11 seasons. Next year, the club may even ask how many fans have been with them for 15 or 20 years. The stories behind this loyalty are invaluable and the club is eager to hear them.
Match attendance is another strong point. Nearly 44% of members attend every home match, while over a quarter make it to more than 15 games a season. A solid 70% report attending at least 15 matches at Gtech, with many making the journey to away games as well. Despite the challenges of traveling for older fans, over 30% have attended at least nine away games this season.
The club is committed to listening to its supporters. With over 3,500 comments collected, there’s a wealth of feedback to sift through. The focus will be on understanding what fans want and how the club can respond effectively. It’s clear that while Brentford has a loyal following, there’s work to be done in expanding its reach and inclusivity. The next steps will be crucial in shaping the future of the Bees' fan community.
