Maty Ryan looks back fondly on his spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, calling it the best period of his career. How will his journey continue from here?
Maty Ryan has fond memories of his time at Brighton & Hove Albion. In a recent interview with Flashscore.co.uk, he described his stint at the Amex Stadium as the best phase of his career. He expressed a sense of belonging, saying he felt he could have spent his entire career with the club had circumstances allowed.
Ryan's journey since leaving Brighton has been diverse, taking him across Europe with stops in Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, and France. Yet, he made more appearances for Brighton than any other club, racking up 123 matches compared to 102 for Club Brugge, 94 for Central Coast Mariners, and 64 for AZ Alkmaar.
He joined Brighton after a loan spell at Genk, coming off a less active period at Valencia. Ryan recalled the excitement of joining a club fresh off promotion and the allure of their new stadium and training facilities. "I loved my time there," he said. "It was a super exciting time to sign."
During his three-and-a-half seasons as Brighton's first-choice goalkeeper, Ryan experienced highs and lows, including memorable victories against giants like Manchester United and Arsenal. He reflected on those moments, saying, "Nothing better than beating Manchester United or Arsenal."
Now, as he continues his career, Ryan's time at Brighton remains a cherished chapter. His connection to the club and its fans is evident, and it’s clear that the Amex holds a special place in his heart.
