Aston Villa is reportedly keen on signing Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush as they look to strengthen their attack. Will Marmoush find a new home this summer?
Aston Villa has set its sights on Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush as they prepare for the summer transfer window. The Egyptian international, who made a notable move to the Etihad from Eintracht Frankfurt, is back on Unai Emery’s radar as Villa aims to enhance its attacking options.
Despite being active in the winter transfer market, Villa's interest in Marmoush remains strong. The versatile forward has struggled to secure a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s star-studded lineup, often finding himself on the bench or only getting minutes in domestic cup matches.
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke shared insights on Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, revealing that Villa's recruitment team has been monitoring Marmoush for some time. "There was a bit of interest in Marmoush in the January window from a few clubs," O’Rourke noted. "Aston Villa looked at it before they signed Tammy Abraham, and I’m sure there’ll be clubs at home or abroad who would be looking at the Egyptian in the summer window if the player himself does feel the need to move on."
However, O’Rourke cautioned that attracting Marmoush away from the reigning champions won't come cheap. With three years left on his contract and City having invested significantly in him, negotiations could prove challenging.
Marmoush has found it tough to make an impact at City. Since his arrival, he has started just seven Premier League matches and two in the Champions League. His talent and pace are undeniable, but the lack of consistent playing time has been frustrating for a player known for his clinical finishing and ability to thrive in transition.
As the summer approaches, all eyes will be on Marmoush and whether he decides to seek a fresh challenge at Villa Park or stay and fight for his place at City. The situation is definitely one to watch.
